Philadelphia’s own Greg Robinson has
boxing in his blood. He began to learn the sport from his uncle, Slim Jim
Robinson. Greg first stepped into a boxing ring at the age of 17 while under
Slim Jim’s tutelage. “It was an incredible learning experience”, says Greg
Robinson, “because I was learning the sport from my Uncle as well as from world
champions Mike Rossman, Terrible Tim Witherspoon, and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad who
were all in training with my uncle.” In 1983, Greg Robinson at age 20 (and
weighing 147 pounds) turned pro in Las Vegas while being promoted by Don King.
“He was a hard working kid and learned a lot, but an eye injury forced him to
give up the sport he loved”, said his uncle, Slim Jim Robinson.
However 1999 began a new era in
boxing when Greg Robinson decided to take his passion for boxing to the next
level. Greg formed Power Productions, Inc. with Steve Ratner of Ratner Frank and
Associates, Certified Public Accountants, with Phil Berger of Lundy, Flitter,
Beldecos & Berger, P.C., Attorneys at Law, and with Tara Berger, who took on the
position of Vice President of Marketing. Sonny Mistretta has been the

14 years ago when he walked into my office with Tim Witherspoon. I was intrigued
when Greg came back to my office 4 years ago with a vision about creating the
best boxing promotion company in Philadelphia. Through hard work and dedication,
we have turned Greg’s love of boxing into a profitable enterprise”, says Steve

a show featuring competitive bouts and to showcase Philadelphia boxers. Greg
combines that underlying requirement with up and coming (or nationally
recognized) singers performing live in the ring during intermission, has
Cheerleaders’ babes as ring card girls, and has a DJ spin a wide variety of
music throughout the show. All of this entertainment within the magical confines
of The Legendary Blue Horizon provides boxing fans with a truly special show and
an unforgettable night out”, adds Phil Berger.
This is Greg Robinson’s 13th
professional show, and his 4th season at The Legendary Blue Horizon.

stated Greg Robinson when recently honored as the 2002 Promoter of the Year at
the Wilkes 7th Annual Boxers’ Award Banquet.
Greg Robinson’s last 8 shows at The
Legendary Blue Horizon were sellouts. By running his shows at The Legendary Blue
Horizon, he his ensuring that it continues to be a viable Philadelphia venue.
According to Greg, “The Blue has so much history, so much charm, it is important
that Philadelphia’s boxers have the opportunity to showcase their talents in
this facility, and that boxing fans have the opportunity to enjoy our shows in
the best and most famous boxing hall in the country, perhaps even the world”.
For 2003 and on, Power Productions
Inc. will continue to spotlight Philadelphia’s best boxers. “Philadelphia is
where the best boxers in the world come off the street and make their dreams a
reality. The world takes notice of Philadelphia boxers”, says Greg Robinson.
